Renew a registration
Renewals of registration
The holder of a registration may apply to renew their registration each financial year. The renewal application must be made no later than one month before the registration ends. However, if the product’s initial registration occurs in June, a renewal application must still be made before the registration ends (within its first month of registration), though a late fee will not apply.
Products are required to be renewed by 30 May each year unless renewed for a five year period previously, in which case it will be required to be renewed by 30 May in the year the five year period expires. An email advising that applications are open to renew product registrations will be sent out towards the beginning of April each year.
A holder, or the nominated agent, may choose not to renew their registration by not making an application before the end of the financial year. Where an application to renew a registration is not made, the product registration will end.
The APVMA may only accept a late renewal application in two circumstances:
- Prior to 30 May 2020—a registrant may write to the APVMA to request that the APVMA accept a late renewal application. If the APVMA agrees to the request, the registrant can then make the late renewal application prior to 30 June.
- After 30 May 2020 but before 30 June 2020—a registrant may write to the APVMA to request that the APVMA accept a late renewal application. If the APVMA agrees to the request, the registrant can then make the late renewal application prior to 30 June, but must also pay a late renewal application fee of $50 per product. The late renewal application will not be accepted without payment of the late fee.
Any products not renewed by the last day of the registration period (30 June) will be de-registered. After this point should you wish to register a product, you will be required to lodge a new application for product registration.
Applying for a renewal
An application to renew a registration must be made online through the APVMA portal. The application must include the prescribed fee and state the distinguishing product number and full product name of the registration to be renewed. Either a one year or a five year renewal can be selected when making the application to renew the product.
The preferred payment method for a renewal application is online through the APVMA portal using credit card or Bpay/electronic funds transfer.
There is no requirement to provide information additional to that on the approved form to renew a registration.
The APVMA must renew the registration if the application meets the application requirements (defined in section 8A of the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code scheduled to the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Act 1994 (Cth). Otherwise, it must refuse the application. Meeting the application requirements includes payment of the prescribed fee.
